The Vineyard Theater grants the Susan Stroman Directing Award biennially to a gifted early-career director. This year's winner, Josiah Davis, will be honored at the Off-Broadway company's annual Emerging Artists Celebration December 1.
Named for multi-Tony Award-winning director Susan Stroman, the award provides recipients with space, time, and support to develop projects under the wing of the Vineyard Theatre. The award was established in 2013.
Davis, a director, choreographer, performer, and designer, is the associate artistic director of On the Verge Theatre Company in California. Recent credits include Mary Gets Hers at Playwrights Realm, Clyde's at Alabama Shakes and Arkansas Rep, AMANI at National Black Theatre and Rattlestick, and The Lightning Thief for TheatreWorks USA.
This year's Emerging Artists Celebration is sponsored by Armanino LLP and Morgan Stanley. Tickets are available at VineyardTheatre.org.
