The highly anticipated new musical, Angel of Arkansas, is set to receive its second industry presentation in New York City. Directed by the distinguished Susan Stroman, the musical tells the inspiring true story of a young single mother who becomes a beacon of hope and compassion during the height of a health crisis in 1986 Arkansas.
Featuring an original country-pop score, by Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor, Angel of Arkansas follows the journey of Ruth, starring Broadway’s Kerry Butler, as she transforms from a sheltered individual to a fearless advocate and caregiver for those in need. The production features a group of actors playing multiple characters including Joel Waggoner, James Harkness, Bud Weber, Nic Rouleau, John Pinto Jr, Ben Jackson Walker, and Michael James Scott.
With a creative team that includes Beowulf Borritt as Scenic Designer, Ken Billington as Lighting Designer and Alejo Vietti as costume designer, Angel of Arkansas promises to be a powerful and moving theatrical experience. The industry presentation will take place on June 20th and 21st at New 42 Studios, offering a glimpse into this compelling and inspiring new musical.
