Lake Tahoe Dance Festival celebrates its 12th anniversary from July 23-26 with a lineup featuring performances from artists like New York City Ballet and Broadway dancer Stephen Hanna. The festival will include new commissions and performances from a variety of dance companies, showcasing a range of choreography and styles. Susan Stroman’s Tony Award winning choreography from the Broadway Show Contact will be on display. A triptych dance musical, section II, Did You Move? will be performed by Stephen Hanna. This section, set in circa 1954 in Queens, New York, takes place in an Italian restaurant, focusing on the empty marriage of a small-time gangster and his wife.
In 2013, longtime friends Christin Hanna and Constantine Baecher founded the Lake Tahoe Dance Festival with the goal of showcasing top-tier professional dance and providing dance instruction in North Lake Tahoe. Now entering its second decade, the festival remains committed to commissioning new works and presenting both beloved classics and lesser-known pieces performed by highly skilled artists.
