Writer Sylviane Gold takes you behind-the-scenes of New York, New York: A New Musical, hearing from Stro about the creation of the original musical production loosely based on the 1977 film.
“It’s the story of people coming from everywhere to do something they couldn’t do anywhere else. People come to New York to change their lives," Stroman says. "After what we’ve all been through with the pandemic, it’s as if New York needs this show—to show how resilient the city is, to show that we will come back. We have the worst snowstorms, we have the worst plagues, we have the worst terrorist attacks. But we always come back.”
You’ll also intimately meet three dancers from the extraordinary cast: Clyde Alves, Ashley Blair Fitzgerald, and Akina Kitazawa with exclusive new photos by Jayme Thornton.
